In the small Romanian town of Deva, Kato, a teen girl living in an orphanage, gets electrocuted while drying her hair. This apparently banal event will completely turn things upside down around her. The orphanage is invaded by electricians, and a new volunteer is hired to help restore order. Kato will become infatuated by her to the point of reconsidering the way she views her world.

Devathai is a 1997 Tamil fantasy film written, directed and produced by Nassar. The film centres on Shashanka, a dacoit who starts off as a Robin Hood type before lapsing into mass, and merciless, killings. He then falls in love with the daughter of one of his captives, only to be spurned. The dejected dacoit commits suicide. Years later, the girl is reborn in Dubai, grows up, falls in love and is on the verge of getting married when she makes a visit to India, to the family's ancestral home. Disturbing thoughts, hallucinations and meetings with a bearded man who is, though she doesn't know it just yet, Shashanka reborn, mark the visit. The rest of the story traces Shashanka's intentions of trying to convince the girl of their previous life characters.

Devata (English: Goddess) is a 1982 Telugu film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and starring Sobhan Babu, Sridevi, Jaya Prada, and Mohan Babu. The film is about two sisters and their love triangle with the lead hero. K. Raghavendra Rao remade it in Hindi as Tohfa (1984), with both Sridevi and Jaya Prada repeating their roles. The story was also similar to earlier films: 1959 Tamil film Kalyana Parisu directed by C. V. Sridhar, who also directed its Hindi remake, Nazrana (1961) starring Raj Kapoor and Vyjayanthimala and the 1960 Telugu movie Pelli Kanuka.
